How to Order Sand
Step 1 - Which sand should I order?
The decision as to which sand to order depends on two things - price and use. All of the sand varieties that we sell will give you excellent value for your dollar. White Sand is good for topdressing lawns, placing in a children sand box or mixing with soils. Masonry Sand is used in creating mortar or as a base for flagstone. River Sand is good for mixing with potting soil or Gardener's Choice. You are welcome to come into Lowcountry Mulch to examine samples of our sands for yourself. We have a 3 varieties of sand to choose from.
Step 2 - When can I have sand delivered?
We can deliver gravel Monday - Saturday during business hours. Saturdays are more popular, so if that is the day you want, be sure to call earlier. "Plan ahead" is the best advice.
We prefer not to deliver soil when it is raining. If it is raining at your scheduled delivery time, we will call to recommend rescheduling your order.
Step 3 - How much sand do I need?
If you are looking to cover an area the best way to calculate the quantity you will need to use the product calculator on the item page. Click on the above sand types to access the calculator. If you are mixing mortar, please refer to the cements recommended amount. Sand is sold by the ton.
Step 4 -Where can sand be delivered?
Before you call with your order for sand, give some consideration to where you would like us to dump it on your property. Our trucks can hold a maximum of 8 tons of sand so they have considerable weight even when empty. We discourage dumping your sand in any location that requires the wheels of the truck to leave a hard surface - paving, concrete, asphalt or packed gravel or dirt. Usually, we deliver to some location on the homeowner's drive. Marking the location by spreading a tarp on the drive before the time of delivery is especially helpful. Be sure to pay attention to overhead wires or tree limbs. The truck bed has to tilt to dump the sand so it requires sufficient overhead clearance. Our truck requires at least 18 feet of overhead clearance.
Step 5 - How do I place my order?
Call Lowcountry Mulch at 971-7010. Have your measurements ready, the sand you would like, the delivery location, and the form of payment. We can accept a credit card - Visa, Master Card, Discover or American Express - or you can pay with a check or cash at the time of the delivery. There is a delivery charge and a minimum volume based on location. The delivery charge is in addition to the price of the sand. If you have any additional questions about delivery or about our products, we would be happy to answer them at the time of your call. Of course you can also place your order by coming into our stores.
